Peter Elliott

Multimedia Journalist, host, and broadcaster

ABout me

Hey! My name is Peter Elliott. I’m an award-winning multimedia journalist, and I’ve been covering sports professionally since I was 10-years-old — really! I’ve been credentialed to cover NHL, MLS, and NCAA basketball and football events for a variety of outlets, and I'm always looking for new opportunities.

I recently graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a degree in broadcast and digital journalism.

I gained significant broadcasting experience through my involvement on campus with CitrusTV, the oldest student-run television station in the country. I was involved with both the sports and news departments, and stood out in a crowded field of candidates to earn a handful of coveted on-air positions.

As a sports anchor and reporter, I was responsible for turning thoughtful stories with strong news value featuring engaging video and sound on tight deadlines. I hosted “On The Bench” a SportsCenter-style program, and “Orange Press Pass,” a live, unscripted postgame show. I also endeavored to anchor and produce creative, highlight-driven sports blocks for our nightly local news program. I also gained experience behind the camera as a senior sports photographer, shooting absorbing footage of Syracuse athletics and training younger photographers. As a sophomore, I covered the historic men's lacrosse program as a beat reporter.

As a news anchor and reporter, I know how to write compelling copy and turn thoughtful stories with strong news value featuring engaging video and sound on deadline. I also anchored “Market Shares,” the only business news show on a college television station.  I’ve developed a strong news judgment, choosing stories of significance to the campus and local community.

I bring valuable real world experience, having worked in newsrooms both big and small across the country. In 2024, I played an integral role as the sole intern at NBC Sports Chicago, where I served as a segment producer on “Football Night in Chicago” and a production assistant on NBC 5’s “Sports Sunday.” I also served as an off-air reporter, interviewing professional athletes at local events.

In 2023, I worked with the two-person sports team at ABC 22/FOX 44 in Burlington, Vermont to shoot video, create rundowns, write scripts, and cut highlights that made air each night. I shot a variety of local high school, college, and amatuer sporting events, and interviewed athletes after games.

I grew up in Lake Forest, a northern suburb of Chicago, and am a proud 2021 graduate of Lake Forest High School.

As a reporter for The Forest Scout, the student newspaper, I won three Student News Organization awards for my coverage of school athletics and news. I was named an editor as a junior and wrote for the paper starting as early as my freshman year.

From 2017 to 2020, I covered Northwestern University and college football at large for College Football News, which was then part of USA Today’s network of digital properties. I covered dozens of Northwestern events and become a regular in the press room. Through my consistent attendance, I forged valuable relationships with media members, communications professionals, and team officials.

I’ve also written at a variety of SB Nation blogs, including Second City Hockey, Fish Stripes, and Mountain West Connection.

In 2016, as an eighth-grader in middle school, I hosted and produced Forester Focus, a weekly pregame show for the Lake Forest College football team.

I got my start — and yes, this is true — writing for Talking Baws, a Scottish soccer website that was in desperate need of a writer to cover American sports. Over a two-year period, I wrote nearly 100 articles about a variety of general interest topics, from NFL signings to college football recruiting scoops.
